Introduction
We had the pleasure of working with Gaijin Entertainment on a large-scale influencer campaign to promote War Thunder, their flagship free-to-play military combat simulator.
War Thunder is the most comprehensive vehicle combat game ever created, offering players access to over 2,500 historically accurate tanks, planes, and ships from World War II through to modern warfare. Available on PC, console, and mobile, the game has a fiercely loyal player base and continues to innovate through cutting-edge realism and large-scale multiplayer battles.

Strategy
For this campaign, we focused on YouTube integrations, tailored to gaming creators whose audiences value realism, simulation or just gameplay. We worked alongside creators to build integrated segments, within their videos, to capture the immersive combat experience and convey it through cinematic gameplay footage.
Each creator was provided with:
- High-quality gameplay assets for visual overlays
- Talking points which were customizable
- Direction to create natural-seeming transitions into the sponsored segments
KPIs:
- Drive new user signups by promoting War Thunder's generous onboarding offer, which included free premium vehicles, 100K Silver Lions, and 7 days of premium time for new or returning players
- Emphasize mobile support and platform flexibility
We opted for longer ad placements to provide room for storytelling and cinematic build up.

Influencers
For this campaign we partnered with 15 YouTube creators across the FPS, sandbox, and strategy content spectrum. These creators were selected based on audience alignment and their ability to deliver high-retention sponsored segments that seamlessly fit within long form content.
6 of the 15 creators produced Minecraft videos, leveraging the game's potential to showcase War Thunder's features in a thematic way. One was a Valorant content creator, this helped in creating an immersive call to action (CTA) tied to the tactical mindset of War Thunder players. The remaining creators built out segments within either "just chatting" or reaction style content, offering conversational explanations of the game's features while maintaining strong audience engagement. These unscripted formats allowed the integrations to feel native and not forced, making the call to action feel less intrusive.
Across all videos, each creator included three key sponsor moments:
- A branded sponsor introduction at the start
- A cinematic gameplay showcase with key features and bonus information
- A closing reminder CTA with download links and user incentives
By diversifying content styles and leaning into creator familiarity, the War Thunder campaign achieved strong audience retention while delivering clear, repeated calls to action.
